Study in Dubai


Dubai is situated on the Persian Gulf coast of the United Arab Emirates and is roughly at sea level (16 m/52 ft above). The emirate of Dubai shares borders with Abu Dhabi in the south, Sharjah in the northeast, and the Sultanate of Oman in the southeast.

The Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates is responsible for accreditation of schools.The Knowledge and Human Development Authority was established in 2006 to develop education and human resource sectors in Dubai, and license educational institutes.

Dubai City has emerged as a global city and a business hub.Although Dubai's economy was built on the oil industry, the emirate's model of business drives its economy, with the effect that its main revenues are now from tourism, real estate, and financial services, similar to that of Western countries.Dubai has recently attracted world attention through many innovative large construction projects and sports events.After successful completion of their study programs there are a lot of careers options in Dubai for talented people and hence these nationals land up settling in Dubai.

Study Requirements

Students should hold a General Secondary School Certificate. Gulf students should obtain 60% of total marks in the high school Certificate for admission to the Faculties of Engineering and Economics; non-Gulf students should obtain 80% for admission to any faculty, except Engineering where they must obtain 90%.

  • UG – 3 yrs
  • PG - 1 to 2 yrs
  • The academic year runs from August to June.

Visa Requirements

Visa issuance procedure normally takes 10-30 days.

The administrative expense for a student visa will amount to AED 1,500/- for a 3 years valid visa. This amount is usually paid at the time of registration. However, some institutions may include this administrative expense in their tuition fees.

The documents necessary to submit for Temporary residence permit :

  • University letter requesting residence permits (Letter of mediation)
  • The letter confirming that you have been accepted
  • Application
  • A passport and its copy
  • 3 photos (passport size)
  • Proofs of sufficient means of support
